She finds out what Joe did. She doesn't leave. She recalibrates. She has her own version of the story and her version requires her to stay in it, so she stays.
The System
She grew up in a family where love was conditional, extreme, and occasionally dangerous. The template got set early. Intensity reads as devotion. Devotion requires proof. Proof requires action. The actions escalate because that's what the template requires.
The Cost
The people around her are not safe. She knows this in some part of herself. The knowing doesn't stop the doing. The commitment is real and the damage is real and she holds both at the same time.
The Pivot
She doubles down. The commitment deepens. She has decided this is her life and she will protect it by any means necessary. The decision is complete.
The Pull
You have gone further for someone than you told anyone. The commitment felt like love because it was love. Love and harm can come from the same source.
