Pattern
Leaves before the situation becomes permanent. The exit is not fear. The exit is the first move that ever worked.
The Scene
She turns the war rig around in the middle of the salt flats. The green place is gone. There is nowhere to run to. She drives back through the Citadel because going back through is the only direction that hasn't been tried yet. The escape becomes the plan.
The System
She was taken as a child and kept as property. Every structure around her was built to contain. She learned that movement was the only autonomy available. If you stay, you become part of the system. If you go, you have one chance. She took it at the first opening. She has been taking it ever since.
The Cost
She does not know how to stop moving. The Citadel needs rebuilding. She stays to do it. The staying is harder than the driving. Nobody trained her for the part after the escape.
The Pivot
She hands the Citadel over and keeps moving. Not because she failed. Because building was never the skill. The skill was getting out. She uses the one she has.
The Pull
You have left something this year that needed leaving. The exit was clean. The question is what you do when there is nowhere left to drive to.
